A Tribute to Andrew Wyeth on His Centennial Birthday

Yesterday, July 12th would have been Andrew Wyeth‘s 100th birthday, and the US Postal Office celebrated this remarkable 20th-century artist by releasing 12 visually striking Forever Stamps depicting samples of his iconic work. His son and acclaimed artist Jamie Wyeth helped dedicate the stamps at the Brandywine River Museum of Art in Wyeth’s hometown of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

Andrew Wyeth was well-known for his realistic style of paintings which often create a haunting and enigmatic visual image, based largely on people and places in his life, a body of work that continues to resist easy or comfortable interpretation.

The Andrew Wyeth Forever stamps were dedicated in his hometown of Chadds Ford, PA, at the Brandywine River Museum of Art.
